This weekend when I was in Västervik and got the opportunity to use my in-law’s fabulous garden with various herbs, berries and fruits I really went loose and experimented with everything I could pick.
Besides my alkaline green fruit juice (the recipe can be found here), where the herbs and vegetables came from their garden, I tried to make my own”super snack” apple crisps. They have numerous of apple trees in their garden and it is the perfect season to picked the apples now.
If you have such trees in your garden and want to do something healthy with your apples, in addition to a healthy apple pie, the apple chips are a perfect choice.

I have used an Escalibur food dehydrator, where I dried the apple slices for about 7 h on low heat to preserve all the nutrients. You can also use a conventional oven where you set the oven at about 50 degrees and dry the apples for about 8-10 hours with the oven door slightly open.
The time can vary depending on how thick you slices are, but check the apples after a while and take them out when you want.

It is incredibly easy to make your own apple crisps. Begin by taking out the seed house and slice the apples into thin round slices. Keep the skin on, because of all the nutrients in it. Then just lay out the slices on a rack and get started.
Enjoy your homemade snacks!
